Torture, lots of ways to apply it: having to listen to foreigners saying certain Romanian songs are great just because they really do not understand the words, having to see all the Coca-Cola drinks replaced with Pepsi all over the building you are working with, having to hear something like "where do I find double-click on my computer?", seeing the Church wanting to build an allmighty huge cathedral instead of using that money to help the homeless, to prevent children to be forced to beg and other such unimportant goals...
Seeing news of bombings and deaths everyday in the newspapers/tv/radio.

Your post left me breathless! Great stuff! Allow me to add a handful of my own:

Torture is your work colleagues talking about the events on the "Big Brother" show every day, while you're left wondering if they are really extras from "The Body Snatchers"

Torture is the Iraqi nation's feelings on the western media's sudden post-Haditha shift, knowing full well that this is not a turning point, but that there has been a Haditha every disgraceful, blood-soaked day since the Imperialist/Zionist/Axis-Of-Evil started their Crusade in Muslim lands.

Torture is allegedly liberating a people, then using their torture camps as torture camps, all the while proclaiming that things are better than they've ever been.

Torture is the napalm-stinking-knowledge that a nation villified for being baby killers over 30 years ago, is still at it, having learned precisely nothing.

Torture is the statistic that for every Israeli child killed in a suicide bomb, 7 Palestinian children are killed in return by snipers, helicopters, soldiers and missiles.

Torture is the black American underclass watching in horror as their most senior figure, Condoleezza Rice, was out buying three thousand dollar shoes while large chunks of her nation was dying in New Orleans. Their feelings of betrayal and their deaths through negligence and deliberate, malicious, cold intent, that was torture.

Touche' Omer.

And the biggest torture of them all is watching Condoleezza Rice delivering the Strappado Rendition, ‘with sweetness’, to countless helpless victims in more than three dozen ‘outposts of tyranny’ while in the balconies above, her ghastly neocon masters glide in a macabre saltation watching her gruesome performance. Her victims, however, are reeling with pain by the time she strikes the end note of her grand finale.

For more on Condi and her torturing masters, please read The Strappado Rendition at;
