   while my first response to your announcement of silence was “why?” — i wonder whether, amidst the current cacophony of cross-purposeful voices yammering away full of the usual sound-and-fury, a moment of silence is perhaps not what we need to ponder what has happened, and what will happen, and what we would want to happen… yada yada yada is not going to solve our problems.

   one hopes, however, that your vow of silence will not be monastic.
